The NFL Coaching Tree You Can’t Miss (2026 Edition)

Alright guys, pruning season is past, and it’s time to see what the 2026 NFL coaching tree looks like. Like every year, wilted branches get trimmed and burned in the brush pile, while new growth is carefully grafted in, hoping these fresh coaching branches will flourish and blossom.

I took extra time on this year’s tree. It wasn’t easy. Since retiring from my day job, I’ve lost access to some of the computer tools I used to use. So, in addition to digging through coaching histories, I had to learn new software just to get the job done. I think it was worth it, and I hope you’ll like the results.

To make this season’s tree more consistent, I stuck to two simple rules. First, every connection comes from a coach’s actual NFL assistant role under a head coach – no guesswork, no philosophical fluff, and no indirect ties. Second, I double-checked every link using pro football histories, coaching biographies, Wikipedia, and other reputable NFL sources to make sure the lineage is accurate.

As you browse the coaching trees below – this year’s and past seasons – you’ll notice there’s no 2025 version. Life got in the way last year. I’ve got plenty of new content I want to share, but if time allows, I might go back and create a retroactive tree. No promises.
