I do not like what I see when I look at most NFL Power Rankings online. For example, I love what’s going on in Minnesota this year, but the Vikings are currently hovering right around the #6 spot on most Power Rankings. With a defense that hemorrhages as much purple defensive yardage as they do, a #6 rating is much too high.

I decided to create my own Power Rankings algorithm to see how closely it would compare to Power Rankings found online. To eliminate any personal biases, these rankings strictly use only the following elements – no subjectivity allowed!

  • Wins vs losses
  • Points scored vs points allowed
  • Total team yardage gained vs yardage allowed
  • Strength of schedule
  • And, lastly, all but the 10 most recent games are ignored. (I want current power rankings – not rankings from months ago.)

In case you missed it, Bad Lip Reading released its 2022 spoof on the NFL back in February.  As always, it’s a sidesplitting, uproarious view.  Where else can you hear superstar players Buttock L’Bevins, Creek Bicep, and Mars Savior Starborn introduce themselves?

“I believe that one plus one is one, and when you add everyone at the game today, well the answer is still one. And through baby eyes, the view is incredible.”
–Aaron Rodgers (per Bad Lip Reading)

According to CBS Sports, Football Weblog’s 2021 Adopt-A-Player Will Shipley is scoring at a record-breaking rate. He is the only Clemson player since 1950 to score more than one touchdown in each of the first three games. He has two rushing touchdowns in each of the Tigers’ first three games. He is one of only three players who have done it so far this season. He is unquestionably a threat every time he touches the ball, and is one of the key players for the Tigers.

In Clemson’s 51-45 double-overtime win over Wake Forest, Shipley once again turned in an outstanding performance. He rushed for 104 yards on 20 carries including a hard fought 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter in which Shipley simply would not be denied.

This is a reminder that the One Page Printable NFL Schedules and Standings are updated daily with the latest game scores and game results. The Schedules and Standings are always accessible from Football Weblog’s menu, or click a button below.

Football Weblog’s adopted gridders shone brightly in their respective openers.  Our 2021 Adopt-A-Player, running back Will Shipley, rushed for 42 yards on 10 carries and punched in two TDs in Clemson’s 41-10 beatdown of Georgia Tech.  This season’s addition, running back Raleek Brown, helped pace the USC Trojans in their 66-14 shellacking of the Rice Owls with 6 carries for 36 yards.  Brown also found the endzone in the 2nd quarter.
